Dig Dug

How to Play Dig Dug ?

Namco's 1982 arcade classic Dig Dug gives you two ways to kill an enemy, and they favor completely different situations: the air pump inflates a Pooka or Fygar until it pops, slow but safe, while dropping a loosened rock crushes anything caught underneath it instantly but only works where the terrain allows.

Because tunnels you dig are permanent for that level, digging with an escape route in mind rather than a straight line toward an enemy keeps a Fygar's fire breath, which travels straight down a tunnel, from cutting off your only way out. Luring two enemies under the same loose rock before dropping it is worth the setup time, since it clears twice the threat for one rock instead of saving the second kill for later. Diggy takes the same underground-digging premise in a more modern, treasure-hunting direction.
