Earn to Die 2 names its own core loop right in the title: every run through the zombie-packed terrain earns cash regardless of whether you actually reach the evacuation point, so even a run that ends in a stalled, zombie-swarmed car still funds the upgrade that gets you further next time.

Spending early cash on engine power and fuel capacity tends to matter more than weapons, since a car that can't physically reach the harder terrain never gets to use its weapons on it anyway, armor and offense pay off more once the vehicle can already cover distance reliably. Momentum earned from a good ramp launch carries over rough patches that would otherwise stall a slower-moving car, so maintaining speed through easy stretches sets up the harder ones ahead. Drift Apocalypse runs a similar zombie-plowing premise built around drift-based scoring instead of straight-line distance.
