Gunblood reduces the western showdown to its purest form: a wait cue, a draw, and a shot, all decided within a window of time too short to think your way through, only react. Draw before the cue and you're penalized just as badly as drawing too late.

Because accuracy matters as much as speed, aiming for center mass rather than rushing a shot the instant the draw cue appears tends to win more duels than a fast but wild shot, a miss costs more time than a fraction-of-a-second delay for a clean hit. Bonus challenges mix in different targets and constraints that punish relying purely on the same reflex timing from standard duels, so treating them as separate skill tests rather than more of the same helps.
