Ice Dodo

Ice Dodo makes slippery ice the core obstacle rather than an occasional hazard, momentum on ice patches doesn't stop cleanly, which means the dodo keeps sliding past where a normal platformer character would have already stopped, and levels are built around planning for that overshoot.

Approaching an ice patch at a slower, more controlled speed tends to give more control over where the slide actually ends than sprinting straight across it, a fast approach carries momentum well past the intended stopping point. Treasures tucked into corners of the icy terrain are usually placed to require a deliberate, slower detour rather than a straight-line dash, so slowing down to explore pays off more than rushing every level. Icy Purple Head builds its entire puzzle format around that same slide-versus-stop momentum control.
