Your block never stops moving. Cross your own trail and you die; let an opponent cross it and you die too. Cut through somebody else's trail while they are out grabbing land and they are the ones who lose their run - which is how the leaderboard actually gets shaken up.

Tips to Claim More Ground

• Take small bites early. Short loops next to your border are almost risk-free and compound fast; long expeditions are how new players die at 3%.
• Hug your own edge. Travelling along the inside of your territory is safe - only cut out into the open when you are ready to claim.
• Watch who is heading towards you. A rival coming your way is usually hunting your trail, not the land; turn for home before they arrive, not after.
• Hunt the greedy. Anyone drawing a huge loop is defenceless for several seconds - cutting their line is the fastest way to take a big slice of map.
• Grow towards a corner. A block backed into the edge of the map has fewer sides to defend than one in the middle.
