Space Major Miner spreads its resource gathering across multiple planets rather than one deepening shaft, which means choosing where to mine next matters as much as how well-equipped you are, a rich planet with weak gear can be a worse trip than a modest one your equipment actually handles well.

Because rival miners compete for the same resources, scouting a planet's yield before committing heavily tends to avoid wasted trips to sites already picked over. Reinvesting early resources into equipment upgrades rather than immediately pushing toward the most dangerous, resource-rich planets tends to build a stronger foundation for the harder alien landscapes waiting further out.
