Apple Worm

How to Play Apple Worm ?

Apple Worm looks like a harmless little snake game until the second level, when you realise the worm obeys gravity. Hang too much of your body over a ledge and the whole thing drops off the map. Every apple you eat makes you one segment longer, which is exactly what you need to bridge a gap - and exactly what gets you stuck in a corner if you eat it at the wrong moment.

A Puzzle Game Disguised as Snake

The goal in each of the 30 stages is simple: get the worm's head into the swirling portal. The first three stages are open from the start and the rest unlock one by one as you clear them. There is no timer and no enemy chasing you, so every level is a quiet little logic problem about length, weight and order of moves.

Apple Worm was made by Gibton and started life as a browser classic. The version here keeps the original art and level layouts and runs at a size that fills your screen.

Controls

  • W, A, S, D - move the worm up, left, down and right
  • On-screen arrows - the same moves with a mouse or a finger
  • Circular arrow (top left) - restart the current level
  • Menu button (top right) - back to level select, plus sound and music toggles

How the Worm Actually Moves

The worm can only move its head, and the body follows square by square. As long as at least one segment is resting on solid ground the worm stays put; the moment nothing is supporting it, it falls straight down. That single rule is the whole game. A short worm can slip through narrow gaps but cannot span a hole; a long worm can bridge almost anything but struggles to turn around in tight rooms.

Things that trip people up

  • Apples are not always good. Some levels are solved by ignoring an apple until the very end, or by eating it from a specific side.
  • Climbing needs support. You can build upward by stacking your body, but only while the tail is still anchored somewhere.
  • Falls are final. Dropping off the bottom resets the stage, so test risky moves one square at a time.

Tips for the Harder Stages

  • Count the squares of the gap before you move - you need at least that many segments behind the head.
  • Plan the last three moves first. Work backward from the portal and the route usually becomes obvious.
  • Use the restart button freely. Most solutions are short, and a clean retry is faster than untangling a bad position.

If you like guiding a growing body around, Snake.io and Google Snake are the fast, reflex versions of the idea, while Stickman Hook is another short-session game about momentum and timing.

Before You Start

How many levels are there?

Thirty. Stages 1-3 are unlocked right away and each clear opens the next one.

Can I play Apple Worm unblocked at school?

Apple Worm unblocked runs straight in the browser on this page with no download, so it usually works on Chromebooks and school laptops. Follow your school's rules on when to play.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes - use the on-screen arrow buttons instead of the keyboard.
