Basketball.io takes the "io" formula, drop straight into a live server with strangers, no menus or lobbies required, and applies it to team basketball instead of the usual cell-eating or shooter format the genre is known for.

Because teammates are whoever else happened to queue into your match, communication is limited to positioning rather than callouts: cutting toward the open side of the court when a teammate is being double-teamed tends to get you the ball far more reliably than standing still and hoping for a pass. Matches move fast enough that overcommitting on defense to chase a steal usually costs more in open layups than it earns, staying in position for the rebound is often the higher-value play. If you'd rather play without strangers on your team, Basketball Legends keeps the same arcade dunking but as a controlled 1v1 or vs-AI match.
