Once Upon A Coma tells its mystery almost entirely through what's missing rather than what's shown, Pete wakes up with fragmented memories and a changed world, and piecing together what actually happened while he slept is the real puzzle underneath the platforming and exploration.

Because memory fragments are scattered rather than handed to you in order, exploring fully rather than rushing toward the next objective marker tends to fill in context that makes later story beats land harder, several details only make sense retroactively once an earlier fragment is found. The hand-drawn world rewards close attention to environmental detail, since small visual changes between areas often hint at what's actually going on. OMORI explores a similarly dreamlike, emotionally heavy narrative through a much longer RPG format.
