Only Up
How to Play Only Up ?
Only Up commits to its title literally: there is no going back down, one wrong step off a platform sends you falling past progress that took real time to climb, which turns every jump into a genuine commitment rather than a quick, low-stakes attempt.
Because a fall can undo a large chunk of a climb at once, favoring cautious, confirmed footing over a flashy risky leap tends to preserve progress better over a long session, the time saved by a risky shortcut rarely outweighs the time lost if it fails. Distinct biomes along the climb each introduce new obstacle types, so treating each new area as its own learning curve rather than assuming earlier techniques still apply helps avoid careless falls. Getting Over It tests a similarly punishing, no-going-back vertical climb with a hammer instead of platforming.
