Deltarune
How to Play Deltarune Chapters 1-4 ?
Deltarune Unblocked now runs as one single game on this page: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 all load from the same build, with the chapter select screen doing the work that four separate pages used to do. Start a brand new file at the beginning, or jump straight to the chapter you stopped at - your party, your money and the choices you made carry forward exactly as they do in the desktop release.
What Is Deltarune?
Deltarune is a turn-based role-playing game written, designed and composed by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, and built in GameMaker Studio 2. The title is an anagram of "Undertale" and the two games share characters, music motifs and one very stubborn idea - that you can talk your way out of almost any fight - but Deltarune is a parallel story, not a sequel. You are not returning to the Underground; you are in a small town called Hometown where familiar faces live completely different lives.
You play as Kris Dreemurr, a human teenager who falls into a Dark World with their delinquent classmate Susie and meets a fluffy dark prince named Ralsei. He tells them they are the three heroes of a prophecy, destined to seal the Dark Fountains that keep those worlds alive. The story is planned across seven chapters: Chapter 1 arrived in October 2018, Chapter 2 in September 2021, and Chapters 3 and 4 launched together in June 2025 as the first paid release. This page carries that four-chapter run from start to finish.
Chapters 1-4, All in One Page
- Chapter 1 - The Beginning. The supply-closet Dark World, Lancer, and the tyrannical King. Susie starts out fighting against you and has to be won over before the party is even a party.
- Chapter 2 - A Cyber's World. The computer lab becomes a neon internet ruled by Queen, Noelle and Berdly join the cast, and the game introduces recruiting spared enemies into Castle Town.
- Chapter 3 - Late Night. Toriel's old television becomes Tenna, a Darkner who traps the party inside his game shows. This is where the Roaring Knight stops being a rumour and shows up in person.
- Chapter 4 - Prophecy. The church turns into three connected Dark Worlds, Ralsei finally admits what the prophecy actually says, and the party fights a Titan that the Knight raises out of a new Fountain.
Chapters 3 and 4 are noticeably longer and harder than the first two - Toby Fox described the first four chapters as roughly "two and a half Undertales" of content - so treat this as a long game rather than a lunch-break one.
How to Play Deltarune Unblocked
Controls
- Arrow keys - move Kris around the overworld, move the red soul during enemy attacks, and pick menu options in battle.
- Z or Enter - confirm, talk, advance dialogue.
- X or Shift - cancel or back out of a menu.
- C or Ctrl - open the main menu for items, equipment and party stats.
- Fullscreen button - use the fullscreen icon under the game rather than F4, since the build is running inside this page.
Click the game window once before you start so it takes your keyboard input - otherwise the arrow keys scroll the page instead of moving Kris.
The Battle System
Each turn you pick FIGHT, ACT, ITEM, SPARE or DEFEND for every party member, then survive a bullet-hell attack pattern with your soul. Defending fills the shared TP gauge, and so does "grazing" - letting a bullet pass as close to your soul as you dare without touching it. TP is what pays for spells, so a party that dodges greedily has far more options than one that plays safe.
Acts and spells wear an enemy down until sparing them works: Ralsei's Pacify, for example, finishes off an enemy that has already been tired out. From Chapter 2 onward, enemies you spare move into Castle Town, so a pacifist run visibly fills your town with residents. Fighting works too, and from Chapter 2 it hands out HP and magic increases that sparing does not - the game lets you take that route and then quietly remembers it.
Tips for New Players
- Commit to one approach. ACT options usually need several turns to calm an enemy down, so a half-finished pacifist attempt that switches to attacks is harder than either pure route.
- Stay near the edges of the bullet box. Most attack patterns are built to converge on the middle, so the centre is the worst place to idle.
- Graze on purpose. Sitting still on DEFEND is safe but slow; dodging close to bullets fills TP fast enough to spell your way through a fight.
- Talk to everyone twice. Deltarune rewrites NPC dialogue constantly as the story moves, and a lot of the best jokes and hints only exist on the second pass.
- Save at every save point. Chapters 3 and 4 run long between them, and several of their bosses hit much harder than anything in Chapter 1.

More Games Like Deltarune
Undertale Yellow is the obvious next stop - a full-length fan prequel that keeps the ACT-or-FIGHT combat and the Underground's tone. BERGENTRUCK 201X is a smaller Deltarune-flavoured project built around the same bullet patterns, and OMORI takes the friendly-RPG-with-a-dark-secret idea somewhere much heavier.
Deltarune FAQ
How many chapters can I play on this page?
Four. Chapters 1 through 4 are in this single build and are picked from the game's own chapter menu, so you no longer need a separate page per chapter.
Do I have to start at Chapter 1?
No - the chapter select lets you start anywhere. Chapters 3 and 4 assume you already know who everyone is, though, so the story lands far better in order.
Is Deltarune a sequel to Undertale?
No. Toby Fox has repeatedly called it a parallel story. Undertale characters appear, but in different roles and a different world, and you do not need to have finished Undertale to follow it.
Can I play Deltarune unblocked at school?
Deltarune unblocked is hosted on this page rather than on a separate games portal, so it usually loads on school and office networks and runs fine in Chrome on a Chromebook. Check your own school or workplace rules first.
Does my save carry between chapters?
Yes. Choices, party members and recruited Darkners follow you forward, which is why the game keeps asking whether you really meant to do that.
What about Chapter 5?
Chapter 5 arrived in June 2026 as a free update to the paid release, with Chapter 6 aimed at 2027 and seven chapters planned in total. The build on this page covers the first four.
