What Is Escape Road 2?

Escape Road 2 is the sequel to AZ Games' top-down getaway driver, built in Unity and released in November 2025. It opens the same way every time - a robber sprints out of the bank, jumps into your car, and the first patrol unit is behind you before you have picked a direction.

The car accelerates on its own and never stops, so steering and braking are the whole game. There is no finish line: you survive, you collect cash, and the longer you last the more the city escalates against you. Where the original chased you with police cars, this one brings in the army.

How to Play Escape Road 2

Controls

• A / D or left / right arrow - steer
• S or down arrow - brake and reverse, which is how you get out of a corner instead of sitting in it
• Space - jump out of the vehicle, and press it again next to another one to take it
• There is no accelerator key - the car drives itself forward at full speed

Your car takes damage rather than dying instantly. Watch for smoke: that is the warning that the next hit ends it, and it is the moment to bail out and start looking for a replacement rather than hoping the chase thins out.

What Escape Road 2 Added

• Escape on foot. Leave the car whenever you like and run - the one mechanic that changes how every other part of the game works.
• Vehicle hijacking. Any civilian car on the street is a fresh health bar, so a wrecked ride is a setback rather than a game over.
• Parachutes. Get launched into the air and you come down under a canopy instead of dying on impact, which buys you time to pick a landing spot.
• Armed pursuit. Officers shoot at you now, so distance no longer means safety the way it did in the first game.
• Rarity tiers. Cars run from Common through Rare and Epic to Legendary, and the Legendary ones carry perks rather than just higher numbers.

Who Is Chasing You

• Patrol cars - the constant. They work in pairs to pull level with you and squeeze you into scenery.
• Police helicopters - they hold the chase together once you have survived long enough, so breaking line of sight stops helping.
• Army jeeps - faster and more aggressive than police units, and they arrive when your wanted stars climb.
• SWAT tanks - slow to turn, impossible to out-muscle, and a single contact is the end of the run.
• Army helicopters - the top of the escalation, and a clear sign the run is on borrowed time.

Tips to Survive Longer

• Bail early, not late. The moment your car smokes, get out. Riding a dying car for another five seconds usually costs the run.
• Keep turning. Straight lines let two units pull alongside and box you; changing direction every few seconds denies them the geometry.
• Do not fight the tanks. Nothing you can drive wins that trade - put buildings between you and them and leave the area.
• Grab cash that is on your line. Swerving across traffic for one pickup with four units behind you is a bad trade every time.
• Small cars beat fast cars in the old town. A nimble body fits through gaps that jeeps and tanks cannot follow you into; top speed is worth less than a tight turning circle.
